In this episode…
We are joined by the best version of ourselves, which happens to be the most current version!
We welcome you to the podcast and engage in light banter before getting into the heavy stuff.
Feature: Lessons Learned
As many of you may know, we began Happy Mitten Games in late 2012 with a simple idea of how we wanted to create and run a board game publishing company. While we have always had a clear idea of the types of games we want to publish and share with you, we did not always know the appropriate way to execute our goals. This episode puts the magnifying glass on our faults and explores ways to improve our effectiveness while refining Aether Magic to its polished, current version. We hope that by us expressing our frustrations and concerns in this podcast, we can prevent you from making the same errors.
As a game publisher, have a clear idea of what kind of game you’d like to publish and what your goals are. Playtest the game thoroughly and remind yourself that while you may like the game, if your target audience isn’t responding the way you predicted, that is a huge problem that needs to be addressed.
All three of us will be at Gen Con enjoying the event and promoting Aether Magic. Jeff and Lee will be walking around recording interviews, while Kyle will be with the Grand Gaming Academy demoing Aether Magic! Kyle’s Aether Magic playthrough is an event that anyone can sign up for, we’d love to see you there and make sure to sign up while spots last. (If it helps, we will tweet the location when we know where we’ll be.)
