So it begins.
All of us have passions. The things that excite us and make us come alive. However, following our passions often includes risks- risks that many are afraid to take. I don’t want miss out on something amazing because I was afraid to act. And I don’t want to be one of those people who looks back and wonders what if. What I want is to know I believed in my talents, trusted my gut, and did what I loved.
We decided to start a game company.
Since the birth of our son, my wife and I tend to stay in on the weekends and hang out with friends. So for the last several years, we’ve had game nights about every other weekend. A few years back, Kyle (my cousin) ended up coming over to play and has since become part of our regular “gaming” friends.
The thought to start a board game company began over a year ago. It started with random game ideas between the three of us and grew into seriously considering what it would take to run a business. The questions and doubts that ran through our minds are probably easy to relate to: Can we actually run a company? Do we have the time to take this on? Are our ideas good enough? Will we stand out among all these other great games and publishers?
We have spent more than the last year reading, learning, and researching to give those concerns a realistic framework. Also, we’ve spent more than the last year developing and refining our business and ideas. The short answer is yes. Not only can we do it, I think we’re going to be really good at it.
Along with publishing stellar games, the other thing we want to do is help tabletop gaming in general. There are plenty of excellent games, designers, companies, reviewers, and others in the scene. We currently have ideas in motion to continue supporting the scene and to hopefully help broaden audience for tabletop games.
We are very excited. Already, it’s been a lot of time and hard work, but it’s nice to do something we enjoy. While we don’t have all the answers yet, we do have the drive, the skills, and the desire it takes to do great things. I want to personally thank you for reading this post and visiting our site. We are excited for the adventure to come. Please join us on our journey by signing up for our mailing list, finding us on Twitter and Facebook, and sharing us with a friend. It’s the people that make this community wonderful and we’re looking forward to becoming a bigger part of it.
